Who’s that girl?

Name Olivia La Roche

Bedtime My bedtime is entirely dependent on what time I have to get up in the morning. Naturally, I would probably start getting sleepy around midnight, but it’s hard to say. I can just as easily be a night owl as I can be an early bird - just as long as I get 8+ hours of sleep.
Wake up I’ve been getting up at 5 AM lately. I love the stillness of the morning and how private it feels. I feel like I have enough time, no rushing. I can take my time. I realized recently, that while I am really good at some things, being good (for me) requires going slow and feeling relaxed. Working hard is much harder when it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day. Getting up early makes up for that.

How would you describe your morning routine?

Calm, but efficient and purposeful. I start by making coffee and timing it to be ready as my toast pops. I like eating toast and eggs with a sip of almost too-hot-to-swallow coffee between each bite. I feel set up by that breakfast, and I’ve tried all kinds of “healthier” options. Carbs, caffeine and protein are where it’s at!

How long does it take you to get ready?

I can be surprisingly fast: ~ 15-30 min. I am often ready way before it’s time to leave the house and loiter around or work on something so that I’m not inappropriately early - just as bad as being late!

What is the one thing in your morning you can’t do without?

Sleep. Caffeine. A podcast or quick media dose. Oops! That’s more than one!

What does getting ready look like for you?

I don’t shower every day; it’s all about the hair test. I take a look, and if my roots are greasy, it’s time for a shower. Maybe that’s gross but I think people shower way more then needed and often I just don’t feel like it. I wear makeup every day but not a ton. A little RMS ‘Un’ Cover-Up and some Dr. Haushka bronzer. And eyebrows! I’m in a passionate love affair with the Hourglass arch brow pencil! After that, I get dressed and that’s about it.

Do you plan out your outfits the night before or are you more of a spontaneous morning dresser?

Sometimes I lay in bed before falling asleep and think about what I want to wear the next day, but it’s based on what I have planned for the day. I try and craft and outfit that carries through each appointment, meeting or after work event. Sometimes I am just writing at home and don’t get dressed! I love that my co-workers flip over thrift finds just as wildly as something luxurious. It makes getting dressed really fluid and free!

If you had 15 more minutes in the morning, what would you squeeze in?

Some exercise, even just 15 min of it. I’ve completely fallen off the fitness wagon and miss the mental health benefits. Yoga, please.
